How to Make Dalgona Coffee: The Whipped Coffee Trend
Thanks to being quarantined and having endless hours to scroll on Instagram, I started seeing this wonderfully fluffy coffee creation and knew I had to try it. I'm all about recreating coffee drinks at home, so this upside-down cappuccino was just screaming my name.
Dalgona coffee originated in South Korea, after a toffee by the same name. A sugary candy with a thick spongy exterior.
This whipped coffee is a dream come true and a piece of cake to make. Seriously, under 3 minutes if you use a hand mixer like this. The easiest way is to use the canister that comes with the blender. The higher sides prevent splashing and keep the mess to a minimum. The key is to not overwhip the coffee mixture, or it'll get too thick and will be hard to pour.
Ingredients
2 Tbsp instant coffee
2 Tbsp hot water
2 Tbsp sugar
Milk
The 1:1:1 ratio makes it a breeze to make on the fly. Combine instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in the blender canister and whisk until light and fluffy. The mixture should have soft peaks and will have doubled in size.
Pour over iced milk and enjoy! If you mix the froth and milk, it'll be like a coffee milkshake only better! But the layers are gorgeous and perfectly instagrammable, honestly.
Bon Appétit!
