30-Minute French Onion Pasta

Equipment

  • 1 Dutch Oven A large, heavy pot will work the same.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 16 oz dry pasta
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Gryuere

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter over medium heat and cook onion until tender (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Deglaze pan with red wine and add in beef broth, bay leaf, and milk.
  • Bring to a light simmer and add pasta.
  • Cover and cook for about 12-15 minutes or until pasta is al dente.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in gruyere and let sauce thicken slightly.
  • Serve immediately and ENJOY!

Notes

This French onion pasta is rich and satisfying on its own, but it pairs beautifully with a crisp green salad dressed simply with lemon and olive oil. A side of roasted green beans or asparagus adds balance and freshness.
