Preheat your oven to 425°F.
Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Pour in the marinara sauce and chicken broth, then sprinkle with the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until the pasta is evenly coated.
Add the uncooked ziti directly to the baking dish.
Nestle the frozen meatballs throughout the pasta mixture, gently pressing them down so they're partially submerged in the sauce.
Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. This step is important because it traps the steam that cooks the pasta.
Bake for 30-35 minutes.
Carefully remove the foil and give everything a gentle stir. Most of the liquid should be absorbed and the pasta should be nearly tender.
Arrange the fresh mozzarella slices on top.
Return the casserole to the oven uncovered and broil on high for about 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the casserole rest for about 10 minutes before serving. This helps the sauce thicken slightly and makes serving much easier.
Finish with fresh basil.
