Ingredients
  

For the Bread

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup butter softened

For the Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk

Instructions
 

Activate the Yeast

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, condensed milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes, until it begins to look slightly foamy.

Mix the Dough

  • Add the egg, flour, and salt to the bowl. Stir until a rough dough forms.
  • Add the softened butter and mix until the dough comes together.

Knead

  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. (You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook for this step.)

First Rise

  • Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel.
  • Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Shape the Loaves

  • Punch the dough down gently and divide it into two equal pieces.
  • Flatten each piece slightly and roll it into a log shape. Place each log into a greased loaf pan.

Second Rise

  • Cover the pans and let the dough rise again for about 1 hour, until puffy and nearly filling the pans.

Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Bake the loaves for 30 minutes, until lightly golden on top.

Make the Topping

  • In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and condensed milk.
  • Brush the mixture over the warm loaves immediately after baking. This gives the bread a soft, glossy finish and adds a gentle sweetness.
